PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
You don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed to advance your diving, so you can start right after earning your PADI Open Water Diver certification. Advanced Open Water Diver course helps build confidence and expand your scuba skills through different Adventure Dives. You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving.
PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 12 years old are ready to step up and enroll in an Advanced Open Water Diver course. Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – check with your PADI Instructor. If you’re already an Adventure Diver, you only need to complete two more Adventure Dives to earn the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
What will you Learn
Your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training includes a Deep Dive and Navigation Dive and then 3 more introductory speciality courses. These first dives gives credit to the specialty course if you want to complete that speciality.
Open Water Training
We will have a brief session before each Advanced Open Water session and I will train you how to use the equipment needed to complete the specialty. Then we will do a dive and complete the underwater skills. After the 5 adventure dives you will be certified on PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
Beyond using basic scuba equipment, you’ll need a compass and dive knife or dive tool. You’ll also use specialized gear depending on the Adventure Dives you choose. For example, you’d obviously use a dry suit for the Dry Suit Adventure Dive or a sidemount configuration during the Sidemount Adventure Dive. Your PADI Instructor will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional gear, such as dive light for night diving or lift bag for search and recovery diving. Remember that National Scuba can provide all scuba gear you will need to complete this speciality.

Advanced Open Water Diver (Paper) – $349 + tax
You will need to read the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Manual and view the DVD. After you have studied and completed the video make sure you complete the knowledge reviews for each chapter that you have been assigned.
Advanced Open Water Diver (Online) – $429 + tax
PADI’s Online Training program is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace.
Your pricing is all inclusive, which means you do not have to own any scuba gear to complete this speciality. We can provide all the gear needed to complete this speciality including mask, snorkel and fins.
